Held in the 13 cities and towns on the Sanriku coast of Iwate Prefecture
The Sanriku region is home to many traditional folk arts rich in local character, passed down throughout the ages. During the Project, there will be many events that bring together various festivals.
We will share the reconstruction of Sanriku with the world at this symposium. Learn about our journey since the disaster, as well as how to prepare for future disasters.
Sanriku is home to a very unique coastline, and has also been designated as the largest geopark in Japan. There is great sightseeing and activities to be found here.
World-famous musicians bonded with the local people of Sanriku when they visited as part of reconstruction support efforts.
They will be performing a concert during the project.
The Sanriku Railway links the northern and southern halves of the coast. (The line connecting the two will open in March 2019)
Events will be held where you can enjoy traveling on these trains.
The area offshore of the Sanriku coast is considered to be one of the three best fishing grounds in the world, so you’ve got to try our fresh fish and other seafood – and there will be plenty of events where you can do just that.
Programs
